Church Prayers of Intercession

Prayers for use in Church

Our news bulletins are currently full of both man-made and natural disasters.
We therefore hold all these situations in our hearts as we pray:

· For the people of Haiti as they struggle with the shattering impact of another earthquake and a tropical storm; For those who are now homeless, bereaved and afraid; for the souls of those who have died; for the rescue teams and for the government of Haiti.

· For the people of Afghanistan as they come to terms with a new period of rule by the Taliban; For those attempting to flee the country; For those whose lives are in peril; For women and girls facing loss of freedom and opportunity; For foreign governments in their evacuation efforts and the decisions they now must make.

· For the people of Yemen suffering a brutal war, famine and disease; For meaningful peace talks and for international collaboration to bring peace.

· For the people of Africa caught up in civil war and militant Islamic hostility; For their governments coping with limited resources and outside help; For all those seeking safety and protection.

· For all refugees and asylum seekers making dangerous journeys; For compassion, care and sensitivity in all governments; For a solution that brings an end to the exploitation of people by traffickers.

Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer

Heavenly Father, we pray for those whose hearts have been saddened by the death of someone close and dear to them, for members of our families who have died and whose anniversary we recall. Help us to experience the comfort of the Holy Spirit within us, and the fellowship of the church family around us until we are reunited once more in your heavenly kingdom.

Jesus Christ is the light of the World, a light which no darkness can quench.  We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope.  We remember today

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory

You turn our darkness into light in your light shall we see light

Merciful Father
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ,
Amen

The Lords Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, they will be done, on earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen
